Oldies at Sydney University

This 88-year-old jacaranda tree in the charming quadrangle won’t be there to celebrate the launch of the new database. It died over a month ago, on 29 October 2016, and collapsed onto the sunny green lawn.

  1. This jacaranda has been permanently etched in memories of thousands of Sydney Uni students over all those years me included. A new one has been planted cloned from the original

    1. I reacted as a citizen of Grafton. We used to think that we were the only people on the planet Earth with jacaranda trees. The idea that Sydney University might have the same kind of creature was almost blasphemous. Silly Graftonians...
